Tommy Alvin Vinklarek, age 89 formerly of Smithville, Tx went to be with our Lord on October 29, 2022 after seven and half years of nursing home care. Tommy was born September 30, 1933 in Cistern, Tx to Thomas and Annie (Mares) Vinklarek. He was their eighth and last child. Tommy attended Cistern and Smithville schools. He was a veteran of the Korean War, stationed with the Army in Germany and returned home in 1956.
Tommy worked on the farm with his parents and then moved to Smithville with his Mother after his Father passed. He was a carpenter by trade and enjoyed sports especially football and polka/Czech music.
Tommy was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Smithville Tx and never missed the Saturday evening Mass. He was a member of the KJT and Knights of Columbus, being active in earlier years.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Annie Vinklarek, his brothers Vencil, Ludwig, Henry and Julius and sisters Hattie Marburger, Evelyn Hajdik and Lexie Pavlicek, four nephews, Jerome, James, Robert and Larry Vinklarek.
Tommy is survived by 27 nieces and nephews.
Visitation and Rosary will be held Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Marrs-Jones Funeral Home. The visitation will start at 5:00pm and the Rosary will begin at 6:00pm.
The funeral home is located at 110 American Legion Road in Smithville, Texas.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00am on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at the Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Cistern, Texas. Burial will follow at the Cistern Catholic Cemetery.
