Smithville

Rebecca Pearce Robinson "Becky", entered the arms of the Lord on Friday, July 1, 2022 at the age of 83.

Becky was born on August 27th, 1938 to her parents. John and Jewel Robinson, In Louisiana. Her dad was a wood worker but also patented a trailer part invention. He provided well for his family. Her mom was a homemaker and a Baptist, strong in her faith.

At the age of two Becky was a vibrant toddler. A doctor prescribed a double dose of sulfa medication that caused a two week coma, and permanent damage to speech and motor skills. She had to learn to walk and talk all over. The family moved to Texas City, where Becky lived with her parents until the was 40. During her time at home with her parents ,she went on a 3 month journey to the old world and through Europe. She also made a trip to Hawaii.

She graduated from Texas City High School in 1954. She went on to business school where she learned administrative skills. She was an avid artist and has created and sold many works. She was a member of the Lost Pines Artisan Alliance. She participated in several arts events where most of her works were sold. She used to make and sell ceramics. She created pencil artwork, ink artwork, pastels, oils, and three d clay.

Some where on life’s adventures, it shows she was a licensed florist. In 1980 she moved to Smithville, determined to be independent, and remained in Smithville for the next 43 yrs. She relied solely on her trust in God and unending faith to allow her to live an independent life for so long. When in her 70’s she broke her leg and was unable to get released from the nursing home. She remained at the Towers nursing home until she met God.

Her time in Smithville is of never ending ministry. She helped so many other people. She talked about God and quoted scripture often, as she ministered to those God brought to her. She lived with the faith that God would heal her one day, and he has. If there were ever a true angel on earth she was one. Her smile infectious, her positive attitude washed over all who were around her. She often said, “Be happy where you are.” Lost Pine artisan Alliance participated in the empty bowl project. Had one piece of art was published in a cookbook. She was an excellent cook.
