Smithville

Patsy Rea (CoVan) Scoggins Caldwell, 80, passed away at her home on Thursday, September 29, 2022.

Patsy was born on February 19, 1942 in Houston, TX and was raised in Galena Park, TX. She was the fourth of five children of George Thomas Covan and Lodessie Marie (Phillips) CoVan. Patsy loved to write, sing and made beautiful painted rocks. She had an article in the local newspaper, The Smithville Times, years ago called Mailbox Memories. They were letters she would write to her brother, Bill, and were a joy to read.

Patsy was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She doted on her family and was happiest when her large brood surrounded her and did some picking and grinning.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, first husband of 25 years Freddie Ray “Bud” Scoggins and son Robert “Robbie” Scoggins.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years Jim Caldwell, her daughters Darla Scoggins and Sheila Tamble, her sons Ray Scoggins and Paul Scoggins, 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Mathew Tamble, Mark Tamble, Jason Peterson, Steven Caldwell, Terry Caldwell and Larry Caldwell.
