Mildred Buscha

July 3, 1929 — June 17, 2020

Smithville

Mildred Leona Behrens Buscha, 90, of Smithville, Texas passed away on June 17, 2020.  She was born on July 3, 1929 in La Grange, Texas to Alvin and Lena Behrens.

She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Hill Lutheran and spent her entire life as a devout Lutheran member.

Mildred grew up on a family farm in the La Grange area. She was the oldest of 8 children and spent a lot of her time helping to raise her younger siblings. Her youthful years were spent with family at the dance hall and working on the farm. She married Victor on October 15, 1947 and resided in the Giddings area. They moved the family to Smithville in 1962 and made Smithville their home.

She is survived by her daughter, Frances Gray & husband, Zane of Smithville, Texas. Sister, Dorothy Witt & husband, Dale; Brother, Monroe Behrens & wife, Betty, all of La Grange, Texas.  Grandchildren, Teresa Shed & husband, David of Giddings, Texas; Rose Miller & husband, Kevin of Round Rock, Texas; Jonathan Buscha & wife, Meghan of Austin, Texas; Stacia Coronado & husband, Catarino of Smithville, Texas; Michele Mathis of Smithville, Texas, Christie Murphy & husband, William of Red Rock, Texas. She also leaves behind 7 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews, family, & friends.

She was preceded in death by husband, Victor of 52 years; son, John Buscha; daughter, Annie Marie; grandson, Charles Buscha; her parents, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.

Fond memories were spent with Mildred (Grannie) as she was the primary caretaker of the grandchildren when they were younger. She often played games, dolls, and even Hot Wheels with us all. She was a devote viewer of the daytime soaps and Wheel of Fortune. On Sundays, she loved to watch the football games and yell for her team. Her lemon méringue pies were always very delicious but you had to wait until the sugar bead was formed and then we could dig in. She never met a domino match or bingo game; she could not resist. You could make her day by bringing her a cold Dr. Pepper and just spending time with her.

She will be greatly missed by all.

A huge thank you to Care Inn of La Grange & Hospice Brazos Valley.
