Melvin Evans

July 31, 1945 — December 13, 2021

Red Rock

Melvin E. Evans of Red Rock, Texas passed away at home Monday December 13, 2021 while receiving hospice care with his wife and son at his side.

Melvin Evans was born in Stuttgart, Arkansas where he spent his youth hunting and fishing.  Graduating from high school he shortly there after joined the Air Force where he proudly served 28 years. Not a man to sit idle, he started working for Northside School District driving a school bus in San Antonio. He ran that bus like the military.  While in San Antonio he retired with his wife and two children.  He drove that bus for 20 years. In retirement he lived his dream by building his and his wife's dream home on the acreage the two purchased during time stationed at Bergstrom AFB near Austin.  Melvin was truly happy on his little slice of heaven in Red Rock where he could garden, hunt and spend time with his family.  He was always willing to lend a helping hand to his family, friends and neighbors.  Melvin was a straight shooter, a man of few words, but those few words said a lot.  His hand shake was as good as his word. This man touched many hearts and lives making those richer for knowing him.

Preceding Melvin Evans to be with our Lord Jesus Christ, were his mother, Lorene Hickman Evans; father, Joe Evans; brother, William Earl Evans of Arkansas; and his sister, Julie Von of Galveston Texas.

Surviving Melvin Evans are his wife, Caroline Evans of Red Rock; son, Robert Evans; daughter in law, Cynthia Evans; two grandsons, Melvin Evans and Gentry Evans of Smithville; daughter, Tiffany Evans; son in law, Gerald Friesenhahn; granddaughter, Cierra Evans; great-grandson, Hudson Evans of San Antonio; granddaughter, Bethany Rivas and great granddaughters, Harper Rivas and Addison Rivas of New Braunfels; and his brother, Jerrel Evans.
