Mary Magdalene Wilson

September 15, 1925 — August 7, 2020

Mary Magdalene (Haley) Holinsworth Wilson, 94, of Smithville, Texas, peacefully transitioned to the Lord on Friday, August 7 with her niece Monica by her side.

Mary was born September 15,1925 in Oklahoma, to Emma (Howard) and Samuel Harrison Haley, grew up and attended school in Okemah, Oklahoma.

Mary and Chuck (Charles) Holinsworth adopted two children Robert and Rose while living in Osawatomie, Kansas. They then located to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1970 for several years before settling in Greenville, Texas. They had a lake home in Hawkins,Texas and were involved with restoring and managing the Scottsville Nazarene Camp in the late 80’s - early 90’s. Mary and Chuck retired to Smithville, Texas to join the RVIC Community, volunteering as missionary workers.

Mary met Charles Wilson through church and they became friends mourning the loss of their partners in life. They married in 1996 and were always together. Mary and Charles enjoyed traveling together by car to visit family, which took them to many places across the country. One of their more memorable adventures took them to Niagara Falls and Washington, DC.

Mary was always involved in a variety of church activities and lived for the Lord. She loved nature, her flowers, and being outdoors. You could always find Mary tending to her gardens and wild birds, or down by the water fishing. It was never a surprise when family or friends would hear she was nursing another wild bird back to health, or to see her talking to a bird while it rested on her hand or foot. Not only did she tend her own gardens, but when her health allowed, she managed the gardens at Tower Nursing Home which were labeled “Mary’s Magnificent Flowers.” She also enjoyed taking pictures and learning how to share them on her computer. She treasured talking to family on the phone, and would frequently tell them she wished she could give them a great big hug - no matter how old they were. When her family and friends visited, she was eager to take them to Zimmerhanzel's or the Dairy Queen for some Dilly Bars.

Mary is preceded in death by her husbands, Chuck (Charles) Jeff Holinsworth (1995) and Charles L Wilson (2013); and her five siblings, brothers, Sam, Albert, Carl and Dan and sister, Lorene Hearne; two grandchildren Oscar Gorden McGee and Alice Marie McGee.

Mary is survived by her children, Robert D Holinsworth (Mary) of Bowie, MD and Rose Montoya of Albuquerque, NM; step-children, Jane Bohn (Jerry), Jerry Lee Wilson, Charles Wilson, Jr., Ki-Ki Schmid, Robert Wilson, Daniel Wilson(Cindy); grandchildren, Susan M.H. Chopp (Daniel) of Shermans Dale, PA, Christopher Jeff Holinsworth (Autumn) of Leamington, UT, Lisa Ann Holinsworth of Annapolis, MD, Brian Holinsworth (Lisa) of Pasadena, MD, April McGee-Cummings of CA, Tony McGee of CO, Christina Montoya of Albuquerque, NM, and Joni Montoya of Albuquerque,NM; great-grandchildren Grantham Chopp, Nikolai Holinsworth, Mark Cummings, Mathew Cummings, Marshall Cummings, Landon Montoya, Kelsie Rose Montoya; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
