Jennifer Gigout

October 30, 1947 — July 29, 2021

Smithville, Texas

Jennifer Dee Gigout was born on October 30, 1947, in Houston, TX to George and Kathleen Conley. Her and her four siblings spent their days living on the beaches of Galveston Bay where they rode horses, fished, went crabbing, and always caused trouble with their pranks.

After graduating from LaPorte High School, Jenny went to Southwest Texas State University. During her time at school, she met the love of her life, and she introduced her sister Suzanne to her future husband. When out with a friend, Jenny met Mike Gigout at Trainer's restaurant while he was on a date with someone else, however, it was love at first site. Mike immediately left to take his date home and then came back to ask Jenny out. They dated in person and through love letters while he was in the Navy and deployed in Vietnam. They got married when he was home on leave on October 14, 1968. Jenny's mom had four days to plan the wedding.

In 1972, they moved from Houston to Smithville, where they raised their three sons: Michael Shane, Brandon Keith "Cowboy", and Joshua Cody. While being a devoted wife and loving mother, she also had a variety of careers and side jobs; she did whatever she could to provide for her family and to be a blessing to those around her. She ran her mother's restaurant, delivered news papers, worked at the Urban Housing Development, the State of Texas, and later in her life, Towers nursing Home. Jenny was truly devoted to her church, profession, and attempting to corral her three rambunctious boys. She was spontaneous and hilarious; every single day with Jenny was an adventure.

After retiring from the State Of Texas (twice), she spent her days taking care of her loving husband Mike until his passing in 2013 and her eight grandchildren. She spoiled all of them with her love and affection.

Jenny served the Lord all her life and truly lived out what it means to love people like Jesus. She and Mike built their family on faith, honesty, humor, and generosity. She only had three biological children, but she adopted so many more.To know her was to be raised by her and to garner all her knowledge and wisdom.

Jennifer was preceded in death by husband, Mike Gigout; parents, George and Kathleen Conley; sister, Cindy; brother, Bard.

Jennifer is survived by sister's, Suzanne and Patricia, three and their spouses, Shane and Kathy, Cowboy and Holly, Josh and Misty; eight grandchildren, Leslie, Elizabeth, Jake, Katie, Gabe, Mikey, Wyatt, Madison, and Tyler; great-granddaughter, Sophia, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jenny will be remembered for infectious laugh, adventurous spirit, and the love she had for her family.
