Smithville

After 75 years of a wonderful and very full life, filled with much adventure, love and laughter, Maureen Cox- Phillips went home to be with the Lord on September 11, 2019.

Maureen was born January 22, 1944 in Vancouver BC Canada to John Robert Hudson and Esperance Gertrude Blanchard-Hudson. Maureen attended Kitsilano High School until 1960. In 1972 Maureen graduated with honors from Galveston College School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse and in 1980 from Houston Hispanic International University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Healthcare Administration. She went on nursing for many years, becoming among other things, the Administrator of Visiting Nurse Services for the 17 counties of the Permian Basin in Midland and Odessa Texas, a Home Health Compliance Inspector for The Texas Department of Health, and then retired as a Home Healthcare Consultant in 1998.

Maureen is survived by six children, Kathy Leikam (George), Karen Kawaja (Freddy), Charles Cox (Paula), Debbie Galindo;  David Phillips (Nancy), Chaundale Guerra (Atilano), fourteen grandchildren, Joshua, Amanda, Thomas, Jeremy, Keali, Kallyn, Andrew, Monique, Parker, Donovan, Atilano, Anna, Mandy, and Adam; fifteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert George Hudson (Pat) and three nieces (Mary, Margaret and Roberta). Maureen was preceded in death by her husband of 26 years Richard Lowell Phillips.

Visitation will be from 3:00pm to 5:00pm on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at Marrs-Jones Funeral Home in Smithville, Texas. The Funeral will be at 11:00am on Monday, September 16, 2019 at Marrs-Jones Funeral Home and burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Smithville, Texas.

Maureen’s brother-in-law, Terry Phillips will be officiating.
