Smithville

Obituary

Tracy Ann Curles, 59, of Smithville Texas passed on August 14, 2026. She lit up her first of many rooms on July 29, 1967, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Brought into this world so close to water is probably what kept her returning to a beach, anywhere, any time she could. It was her haven.

Tracy was raised in Arlington, TX and visited her grandmother and other family in Smithville often. She eventually moved to Smithville, met and married the love of her life, Robbie Curles, on February 14, 1991. She gave birth to their son, Colton, later that year. Those that knew her before Colton were pleasantly surprised (not shocked at all) at how she adjusted to motherhood, not only to Colton but to his stepbrothers, JR Curles and Chris Hyden.

In 1994, Tracy began her state service at Texas Parks and Wildlife and later accepted a position with the Texas Workforce Commission. After serving 27 years as a state employee, she retired in 2021 to travel and live the life of a true rolling stone (of sorts).

Tracy was most proud of her son, Colton. She celebrated him most for the man and the father that he has become. She loved to spend time with friends, her dogs, and always made time to help others at local benefits.

Tracy is proceeded in death by her father, Clarence Schiller and stepson, JR Curles and many others related by blood as well as those bound by friendship. She is survived by her husband Robbie, son Colton his wife Sterlyng and their two children, Sawyer Kate and Rhett Walker, her stepson Chris, his wife Becky and their two girls, Harleigh and Miley.

Tracy will be dearly missed not only by her family but also by her American Legion Rider family, her adopted family at Shorty’s in Winchester and her frequent and always available traveling companions. A celebration of life in her honor will be planned for the near future.
