Thomas William Morris, 82, of Bastrop, passed away on December 21, 2023 at his home.
Tom was born in Lampasas, Texas to Herman Curtis Morris and Hazel Morris on November 18, 1941. He married Gwen Saunders on May 14, 1965 in Belton, Texas.
He worked for Central Freight Lines in Austin, Texas. He was a veteran, joining the Marine Corps when he was 18 and spent 4 years serving his country. Tom served from November, 1959 to November 1963 and received an Honorable Discharge at the rank of Cpl. E4.
Tom loved spending time outdoors, mainly fishing and camping, whenever the Texas weather would allow, and of late, sitting on the porch enjoying a quiet evening. Tom was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Smithville. He served as an elder in the church.
Tom is survived by his wife of 58 years, Gwen, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces, and neighbors and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and grandparents, Will and Lee McDaniel, who raised Tom.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 11:00 at Oak Hill Cemetery. Funeral services will follow at 12:00.
