Sharon Kay Paysse, born Sharon Kay Luck, passed away peacefully at her home in Smithville, Texas on February 17, 2026, at the age of 71. She was surrounded by family and loved ones, with life celebration music lovingly played by Swan Song as she was gently welcomed into the heavens.

Born on March 27, 1954, in Bastrop, Texas, Sharon was raised in Smithville and remained deeply rooted in the community she loved throughout her life. Smithville was not just her hometown. It was her heart.

Sharon dedicated many years to Smithville ISD, first serving as a bus driver and later as a substitute teacher. She truly loved working for the school district and adored the students and staff. Her warmth, steady presence, and bright spirit left a lasting impact on students and staff alike.

A devoted Christian woman, Sharon lived anchored in faith and hope. Even in difficulty, she embodied resilience, strength, and trust in God.

She was magnetic. The kind of person who knew no stranger. Her infectious laughter filled rooms. Her caring and giving heart made people feel welcomed and loved. She found joy in music, crafting, and decorating especially during Christmas.

Above all, she loved her family and friends fiercely and wholeheartedly.

She is survived by her sister, Katherine Richards; her children, Gene Garcia, Angela Holland, Benjamin Paysse, and Mandy Paysse; her cherished grandchildren, Bradley Holland, Brandon Holland, Kevin Holland, Brandon Malota, Brok Garcia, Kaden Garcia, Kaylyn Garcia, Meegan Garcia, Carson Garcia, Luke Paysse, Avery Paysse, Brittney Anderson, and Kiera Stark; and her great-grandchildren, Amelia Malota, Agnes Malota, Abigail Holland, Freya Holland, and Kolton Garcia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Luck and Bernice Luck, and her brother, Benjamin Luck.

Pallbearers will be Luke Paysse, Brok Garcia, Kaden Garcia, Carson Garcia, Brandon Holland, and Kevin Holland.

Her family describes her as the friendliest person who knew no stranger, with a caring and giving heart for those she loved. That love will continue to echo through every life she touched.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 24, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Marrs-Jones Funeral Home in Smithville. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 25, at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Smithville, with burial to follow at Smithville Cemetery. A meal will follow the burial at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
