Robert Scoggins

July 1, 1963 — August 3, 2017

Robert (Robbie) Allen Scoggins, 54, of Smithville, Texas, passed away on August 3, 2017.

He was born to Patsy Caldwell and the late Freddie (Bud) Ray Scoggins on July 1, 1963 in Pasadena, TX. Shortly thereafter he and his family moved to Smithville, TX where he grew up attending Smithville's schools and graduating.

After graduation Robbie went to work for various local businesses eventually accepting a job in the Smithville ISD's maintenance department. He was a hard worker - a trait taught to him by his Dad. On November 24, 1996 at the age of 33 Robbie married Paulene Mikulec, also of Smithville.

Robbie is survived by his wife, Paulene; his mom, Patsy; his two sisters, Darla and Sheila and his two brothers, Ray (Tommy) and Paul. He is also survived by three nephews, Timothy, Mathew, and Mark; three nieces, Bridget, Amber, and Jenifer and one great-niece, Mikaia. He was preceded in death by his dad, Bud. He also loved his two "children", Henry (deceased) and Sugar - his guinea pigs.

At an early age Robbie developed a "need to beat on things". His mom would find bar stools beaten and cracked from him practicing. It became obvious playing the drums was in his blood. He played in several bands through the years and loved practicing to all genres of music. One of Robert's proudest moments was being part of a recording in an actual studio to "cut" a few songs with his youngest brother, Paul.

When he wasn't playing his drums or working, you could find Robbie washing his truck, working in his yard, or just spending time with his wife and Sugar. On the weekends you would usually find him gearing up at the local police station getting ready to go on patrol as a ride along with Officer Addison. This is where he earned one of his many nicknames, "Rickie-Bobbie."

Unfortunately, in June of 2016 Robbie was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. He fought a hard fight, but the Good Lord and his Dad called him home in the early morning hours of August 3, 2017. Please take comfort that he is now sitting behind the biggest-baddest drum set a man could have - double base foot pedals and all. He is getting ready to click out the beat for the next song on the playlist.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Saturday, August 5, 2017 at All Faiths of the Pines, located at 110 American Legion Road, Smithville, Texas. The Funeral Service will be the following day 2:00 PM, Sunday, August 6, 2017 also at All Faiths of the Pines. Robert will be laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery following the services.
