Obituary

Ralph R Hernandez JR., beloved husband, dad, grandpa, brother, and friend; passed away on July 5, 2026, at the age of 66. Born on January 18th, 1960, in Taylor, Texas. Ralph grew up in Elgin, Tx with his four caring sisters and brother. He graduated from Elgin High School in 1979 and afterwards served four years in the Army. On November 22, 1985, Ralph married the love of his life; Leandra Marie Coronado and had five wonderful children, which he raised in Smithville, Texas.

Ralph took over his family's business, Ralph's Upholstery, and had spent years dedicated to providing his customers turned friends with quality craftsmanship. During his down time, you'll often find him watching the longhorns at home with his friends with a cup of his favorite drink in hand, Dr. Pepper. Ralph made friends and companions everywhere he went and always had a talent at making people laugh with endless stories and jokes. Ralph was a steadfast rock to many around him and was someone you could count on when things got tough. He always looked out for others and took care of their needs before his own, even until his final days. Ralph will always be remembered for his kindness, his laughter, and his positivity, and his unwavering light.

He is survived by his loving wife, Leandra Marie Herandez; his daughters, Jennifer Mendoza (Xavier Williams). Alexis Hernandez, and Alyssa Hernandez; his sons, Torivio Hernandez (Tina Hernandez), Scott Hernandez (Mellody Veliz), John Hernandez, and Joseph Hernandez; his grandchildren, Xena Williams and future grandchild, Audrey Hernandez; and his four sisters, Aurora Castillo, Linda Gamez, Corine Hernandez, and Gloria Paez,

He is preceded in death by his parents; Juanita Renteria and Ralph R Hernandez Sr. and his brother; Tony Hernandez.

Visitation and Rosary will be held Monday, July 13, 2026 at Marrs Jones Funeral Home in Smithville. The visitation will begin at 5:00pm and the Rosary will begin at 7:00pm. 

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elgin, Texas
