Myra Evans

January 8, 1915 — January 5, 2018

Myra Ketchum Evans was released to her Savior's arms on Thursday, January 5 in her home. She was born January 8, 1915 in a rural area outside of Shreveport, Louisiana and would have been 103 on January 8! Her family is eternally grateful to her caretakers, Darlene Shepard and Kim Kincannon for their angelic love and care enabling Myra to live out her days in her home.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James F. Evans of Smithville; father, Paul Solice and mother Garland Schneider both of Shreveport as well as her first husband, Eugene Ketchum of Bend, Oregon. She is survived by two daughters, Marjorie Stewart and her husband, Hollis, both living in Little Rock and Debbie Walker and her husband, Robert living in Austin. She has four grandchildren, Rick Stewart and Karen Stewart of Little Rock, Dr. Rachel Vandermeer and her husband of San Antonio and Sarah Newton and her husband, Justin of Austin. She has a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Vandermeer, of San Antonio.

She and her late husband, James Evans moved to the Smithville area from Houston in the late 1970's upon their retirement. Myra had worked for the Fort Worth Star Telegram, Schlumberger and had had a long career as an executive secretary with Harris County and lastly at S. E. Teaff. Over the years she continued her love of Bible studies, gardening and decorating. Her delicious old fashioned banana pudding, love, laughter and encouragement in the Lord will be greatly missed by her family.
