Mildred Kubicek

June 5, 1931 — May 6, 2019

Mildred Mary Kubicek, born June 5th, 1931, passed away on May 6th, 2019. She was born in Fayetteville, Texas to parents John Hubenak and Cecilia (Orsak) Hubenak.   Mildred attended Catholic School where she was a member of the choir. She lived close to the church where she and her school friends attended at lease one of the scheduled masses every Sunday.  Somedays Mildred would participate in all three Sunday Mass services.  She was a devout practicing Catholic and was known to recite the Rosary sometimes twice a day. In her younger years, Mildred worked a newspaper route and also worked at West End Grocery Store that was located in Smithville.  She married Chester Kubicek on July 1, 1947.  They were married for 47 years before Chester’s passing.

Mildred was a member of the Catholic Alter Society for many years and could be seen volunteering at the hospital when she could.  She loved working in her garden, riding around looking at the country side, cooking and fishing.  One of the places Mildred loved was Galveston, Texas.  She enjoyed visiting her family there and would go every chance she got. Attending Mass was comforting for Mildred and went as often as her health would allow.

She enjoyed going to every sporting event her children and grandchildren participated in and was their biggest fan. Mildred also loved the Houston Astros; watching and cheering them on with the same enthusiasm as the local games she attended.  Mildred’s pets were special to her.  She had three dogs; Buddy, Cowboy and Misty along with one chicken named Bonnie. Mildred was a simple woman and loved life to the fullest.  Her tangible presents will be missed but her sprit will be with us always to help guide us and keep us safe.

Mildred is survived by her two children; Son, Edward Kubicek and Daughter, Cecilia Lehmann and her son-n-law Randolph Lehmann of Buda, Texas; One Grandson; Logan Kubicek and his fiancé, Shelly Kresta of Bastrop, Texas and two Granddaughters, Julia and Carlea Kubicek of Smithville, Texas.  Other special survivors include her Nieces and Nephews; Robert Faldyn and his wife, Kris of Smithville, Texas; Kenneth Coufal and his wife Teri of Galveston, Texas; Karen Chapman and her husband Ray of Galveston, Texas; Debbie Mitchell of Houston, Texas and Brenda Hubenak of Houston, Texas.  All of which she loved and cared for very much.

A visitation will be held from 5:00pm – 8:00pm on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at All Faiths of the Pines, Smithville, Texas.  Reciting of the Rosary will begin at 7:00pm during the visitation hours.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am, Thursday, May 9, 2019 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Smithville, Texas.

Mildred Mary Kubicek will be laid to rest following the Funeral Mass at Oak Hill Cemetery, Smithville, Texas.
