Louis Allen “Lou” Rose passed away in Bastrop Texas on March 22, 2026
He was 93 years old. Mr. Rose was born on October 23, 1932, to Ora L and Allen G. Rose in Olive Bridge, New York.
He attended his early school years in a local one room schoolhouse and went on to attend high school in Kingston New York
Louis served the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955.
Mr Rose was a proud IBM employee from 1955 to 1990 and retired in the Smithville area.
After retiring Lou started an antiques and chair caning business known as Century House.
In the summer of 1955 while working with the MYF Group of college students at the Methodist Church in Olive Bridge he met Cherrell Williams from Perry Ga. An immediate attraction took place. The two were engaged at Christmas and married the next summer. They shared 63 years together.
Louis is survived by his three sons. Gary and his wife Eda of Rosanky, Tx, Jim of Rosanky Tx, and Mark and his wife Peggy of Clifton Tx. Mr. Rose is additionally survived by his Loving Grandchildren Michelle, Kristin, Jacob, Julie, Lauren and great granddaughter Hannah.
He moved to Smithville area in 1983 and joined the First United Methodist Church where he was part of the Methodist Men’s Group and served as a Trustee.
Mr Rose extensively volunteered for the Boy Scouts for over 65 years.
Lou’s loves in life where his family and friends, the church, the Boy Scouts, hunting and fishing along with collecting antiques.
The Family will welcome Friends for visitation on Wednesday, March 25th from 5PM to 7PM at Marrs Jones Funeral home in Smithville TX.
Funeral Services for Mr. Rose will be held at First United Methodist Church in Smithville at 10AM on Thursday, March 26th followed by burial at the Oak Hill Cemetery.
