Lou Scallorn

March 23, 1951 — February 26, 2018

Lou Ellen Scallorn, formerly Franks, age 66, died Monday, February 26, 2018 in the loving care of San Gabriel Hospice at New Hope Manor in Cedar Park, TX.  She was born March 23, 1951 in Hearne, TX, the oldest of 2 children.  She graduate from Hearne High School in 1969 and completed her education at Durham Business School in Austin, Texas  with a degree in Secretarial Science.  Ellen proudly worked for Texas A&M, Allen Academy, and King’s Daughters Hospital.  She retired after 15 years of dedicated service as a secretary at Bastrop ISD in 2015.

Ellen loved to travel.  Her most memorable trip was to Africa where her love for giraffes began.  Ellen was greatly remembered for her eloquent words written in letters and cards to friends and family in need of encouragement, comfort, and love.

Ellen grew up with found memories of attending St. Phillip’s Episcopal Church in Hearne, TX.  She has been a member of First Untied Methodist Church of Smithville since 1995.

She was preceded in death by her husband John Reagan (J.R.) Scallorn and her father Alvah Glenn Franks.  She is survived by her mother Dorothy Mae Franks, Aunt Mary Lou Jackson, sister Barbara Sawyer, brother-in-law B. Vaughn Sawyer, Jr., daughter Brandi Lynn Smith, granddaughter Alison Nicole Young, stepson John Scallorn, daughter-in-law Tiffany Scallorn, grandchildren Reagan and Carter Scallorn.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church of Smithville, TX with Rev. Cindy Grout Layton presiding.
