Larry Parsons

Larry Glenn Parsons, 71, of Smithville, Texas passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2018.

He was born to Tom Glenn and Ruby Mildred Parsons, February 1, 1947, in Smithville, Texas. As an only child, Larry grew up in Smithville and graduated from Smithville High School.

During his school years, Larry was an exceptional athlete and student. He served as Class President and President of the Student Council his Junior and Senior year. Ole number “40” was a heck of a football player.

After High School, he attended and graduated from Texas A&M in 1969 with an Industrial Engineering degree. While there, he was a proud member of the Animal 8 Unit in the Core of Cadets.

Larry served two years in the United States Air Force and was Honorably Discharged as a 2nd Lieutenant. He then received his Master Degree of Business at St. Edwards University.

Larry worked his entire career at Alcoa in Rockdale, Texas and retired as Chief Industrial Engineer for that plant.

He was a proud member of the W.J. Nixon #421 Masonic Lodge and received the Golden Trowel Award. He was also a member of First Baptist Church of Smithville.

He is survived by his sons, Todd (Candice) Parsons and Matthew (Penny) Parsons; Grandchildren, Carlee, Tanner, Chandler, Tulie, Brant, and Easton.

Larry was proceeded in death by his Father, Tom Glenn Parsons and his Mother, Ruby Mildred Parsons.


A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00AM, Saturday, September 1, 2018 at First Baptist Church located in Smithville, Texas.  He will be laid to rest following the service at Oak Hill Cemetery, Smithville, Texas
