Joyce Josephine Campion

Joyce J. (Avant) Campion, age 91, of Smithville, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph L. Campion, whom she married on November 22, 1958. She was also preceded in death by her parents, J.C. Avant and Mary (Malatek) Avant, and her sons, Jimmy L. Campion and Bryan D. Campion.

Joyce is survived by her sons, Darrell G. Campion and wife Tammy, and Robert C. Campion and wife Hattie. She leaves behind a loving legacy through her grandchildren: Bryan Campion Jr., James Campion and wife Dana, Bradley Campion and wife McKenzie, Katie Swartz and husband Jaysen, Shawna Brinkley, William Campion and wife Kaylee, Tristan Campion, and Trinity Campion, as well as many cherished great-grandchildren.

Joyce dedicated many years of service to Smithville ISD, where she worked in the school cafeteria before retiring. She was known for her strong work ethic, warm spirit, and devotion to her family.

She found great joy in gardening and canning the produce, buying new cookbooks and trying the recipes, raising cattle, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Joyce especially enjoyed sharing memories of days gone by with her family, attending family reunions, and staying connected with her extended family.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 27, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Marrs-Jones Funeral Home in Smithville. Interment will be private at a later date.

Joyce will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
