Joe Foytik

Joe Allen Foytik, age 82, passed away on Friday, February 7th, 2020, at home surrounded by family. He was born on October 31, 1937 in Smithville, Texas to Joe and Edna (Volcik) Foytik.  He was a 1956 graduate of Smithville High School. From there, he immediately joined the United States Air Force.  While stationed at Otis Air Force Base in Massachusetts, Joe met his bride and love of his life, of 60 years, Sandra Costa. After Joe was Honorably Discharged from the United States Air Force in 1960, he moved his new bride and son to Smithville, Texas.

Joe began his career at Texas Cedar Products building sawmill equipment and later became a lead carpenter of building custom log cabins. In 1988, he started his own business Texas Rustic Homes, retiring in 1998.

Joe was an avid hunter and fisherman and spent most of his weekends on the Colorado River.

Fishing and hunting was a way of life for the Foytik family. Joe and his children spent many of days and nights baiting hooks and cleaning fish. He also enjoyed teaching his children’s friends the art of fishing. More importantly, the friendships forged during these outings proved to be a gift to all who experienced the river life with Joe.

Joe Foytik is survived by his wife, Sandra Foytik; son Joey Foytik and late wife Joan, daughter Brenda Foytik, daughter Kathy Stubbs and husband Jerry, daughter Karen Badders and husband John, daughter Sharon Hancock and husband Tom, daughter Carolyn Foytik, daughter Janet Perkins and husband Rob, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Edna Foytik, brothers Leroy, William, and Charles Foytik, grandsons Kennedy Rainosek and Reece Perkins, and daughter-in-law Joan Foytik.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at 10:00 am at All Faiths of the Pines, 110 American Legion Road, Smithville, Texas. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends at All Faiths of the Pines on Wednesday the 12th from 5:00-8:00 pm. There will be a reception following the interment at St Paul Catholic Church Parish Hall in Smithville, Texas.
