Ida M Ruscher

Ida M Ruscher passed away May 25, 2026 at the age of 89.

Ida May Machen Ruscher was born in Upton, Texas to Ida Lee Briggs Machen and Woodrow Wilson Machen on August 27, 1936. Ida May attended church at Young School House. She was very proud of achieving eight years of perfect attendance in her Sunday school class. Ida May attended school in Upton the first three years of her education. After the school closed in Upton she completed her education in Smithville. Ida May attended beauty college in Austin, Texas after high school graduation. She worked in the Spears Beauty Shop in Austin. On June 16, 1956 she married Earl Edward Ruscher. The Ruscher family moved to Humble, Texas and raised three children: Richard Earl, Cynthia Marie, and Loretta Ann. Ida May received her lifetime membership award in the school PTA after many years of serving as a member and officer. Ida May and Earl both loved supporting their grandchildren in their school FFA shows.

Ida May is preceded in death by: her parents, Ida Lee and Woodrow Machen; her husband, Earl Edward Ruscher; her daughter, Cynthia Marie LaGarce; her son, Richard Earl Ruscher; and grandson, Draven Mills.

Ida May is survived by her daughter, Loretta Smith and husband Billy; brother Lee Machen; eight grandchildren Christopher, Travis, BillyWayne, Edward, Matthew, Melissa, Paige, and Amanda; thirty great-grandchildren Abrah, Tayten, Taos, Pember, Posie, Ridge, Taylor, Jolie, Katelyn, Hailey, Billy, Chase, Hannah, Madilynn, Carly, Paisley, Autumn, Sophia, Kinzley, Marshall, Maria, Natalie, David, Haylee, Isaiah, Gabriel, Dax, Armando, Aldo, and Penelope; two great-great-grandchildren Gracelyn and Parker.

Services will be held Monday, June 1, 2026 at the First Baptist Church in Smithville. The visitation will begin at 10:00am and the service will begin at 11:00am. Burial will follow at the Young Schoolhouse Cemetery.
