Gladys Hoffman

February 24, 1928 — August 3, 2022

Bastrop

Gladys Myrtle (Nutt) Hoffman was born to Samuel David and Ruth Mae (Lord) Nutt on February 24, 1928, in the community of Dabney near Erick, Oklahoma. Gladys passed away August 3, 2022 at the age of 94. She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Travis Claude “TC” Hoffman, Sr., her parents, sisters Pearl Allison and Bertha Peppers, brothers Herman Nutt, Clarence W. Nutt and James L. Nutt, grandson Brandon Hoffman and great-grandson Logan Rogers, and son-in-law Daniel W. Rinehart. She was also preceded in death by sisters-in-law Leona “Sissy” Ward, Irene Hoffman and Lee Nutt.  Also preceded in death, brothers-in-law John Ward, Elbert Hoffman, Wallace Allison, C.B. Crook and Jack Peppers.

Gladys is survived by her three children, Jan Rinehart of Smithville, Claude Hoffman (Laurie) of Bastrop, and Shirley Quincy (Roger) of San Angelo. She is survived by sister Ola Mae Crook of Sayre, Oklahoma. She is also survived by grandchildren Lisa Rinehart, Dean Rinehart (Kay Masters), Jason Phelps (Robin McMillon), Brian Hoffman (Karen); great-grandchildren Brett Duty (Alexis), Ivey Rinehart, Kaydee Rinehart, Noah Rinehart, Lana Collins, Elijah Hoffman and Aiden Hoffman. Gladys is survived by great-great-grandchildren Paisyn, Kyra, Kohen, and Preston, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Gladys accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized at an early age. She was a member of the First Baptist Church until her marriage to TC when she joined the First United Methodist Church of Bastrop. Gladys was active in her church, a charter member of the Bastrop Lioness Club, Bastrop Pecan Auxiliary, the Bastrop Senior Center, and a member of an informal women’s 42 group that met monthly.

She loved being surrounded by her family where she was known as “Nanny” by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to quilt, bake and could fry the best catfish in the world (declared by her children and many others).

When asked how to best describe their mom / Nanny – everyone responded with sweet and loving.

Gladys spent the last several years of her life at Argent Court in Bastrop. The companionship and interactions with residents and staff made her life full of fun and laughter. We are all very thankful that she was able to make the most of her time there.

The family would like to thank Enhabit (Encompass) Hospice for making her transition to Heaven peaceful and comfortable.
