Our beloved mother, Gertrude Rocha, 84, of Austin, Texas, formerly of Smithville, Texas, passed away on August 11, 2026. Her unwavering faith guided her throughout her life, and her family was always at the heart of everything she did.
Born in Bastrop County, Texas, on September 7, 1941, Gertrude lived a life rooted in faith and service. She was a devoted member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church and the Hispanic Ministry, generously giving her time and heart to her church and community.
Gertrude retired from the Southland Corporation after managing the 7-Eleven in Smithville. She took great pride in her work and genuinely enjoyed the people she met along the way. Her determination and strong work ethic left a lasting impression on those who knew and worked alongside her.
Gertrude enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, and shopping, but being a mother brought her the greatest joy. She was always present for her children’s school events, cheering them on and creating a loving home. In later years, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her tremendous happiness, and she treasured the time she spent with them.
Gertrude and Felipe Rocha raised four children together. She is survived by her children, Norma Limon (Robert, Sr.), Grace Cisneros (Robert), Rebecca Camacho (Joe), and John Rocha; her grandchildren, Alyssa Broddrick (Luke), Christina Vause (Mitchell), and Robert Limon, Jr. (Leticia); and her great-grandchildren, Robert Rene Limon III (Trey), Logan Martin Limon, Emma Isobel Broddrick, Jax Porter Vause, and Presli Hayes Vause. Each of them carries a piece of her strength, her faith, and the values she instilled.
Gertrude is also survived by her sisters, Rose Urbanovsky and Lillie Domel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Felipe Rocha, and her parents, Alfred and Guadalupe (Rosas) Carrizales.
Our mom was beautiful, intelligent, and full of life, with a strong and vibrant personality that was uniquely her own. She met life’s challenges with courage and dignity and left an example that her family will carry with them always. Her presence in our lives was a gift, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mom, you will always be deeply cherished, and your memory will live forever in our hearts. We love you.
