Geneva
Meuth
Feb 26, 1942 — Jul 1, 2026
Rosanky
Those we love remain with us for love itself lives on,
and cherished memories never fade because a loved one's gone.
Those we love can never be more than a thought apart,
for as long as there is memory, they'll live on in the heart.
In Loving Memory of Geneva "Neva" Meuth
It is with deep sorrow and loving remembrance that we announce the passing of Geneva "Neva" Mary Ruth Meuth, a longtime resident of Rosanky, Texas, who passed away at her home on July 1, 2026.
Geneva, the youngest of seven siblings, was born at midnight on February 26, 1942, in String Prairie, Texas, to Max Million Behrens and Anna Segel Behrens. Having grown up in String Prairie, Geneva's formative years were enriched by her family, faith, and the close-knit community surrounding her. she attended the one room schoolhouse in String Prairie before moving to New Braunfels to live with one of her sisters. She completed ninth grade there and later earned her GED.
On September 4, 1958, Geneva Behrens and R.V. Meuth were united in marriage in McCamey, Texas. At the time, R.V. was working in the West Texas oilfields, while Geneva resided with her sister and brother - in- law in Crane, Texas. Shortly after their marriage, they returned back to Rosanky, where they would raise two daughters. On Saturday, nights they could be found dancing to the sounds of local bands like the Rockne Playboys at Big Annie's Dancehall- now known as Watterson Dancehall- creating memories together. They celebrated 52 years together before R.V.'s passing in 2011.
Throughout most of her adult life, Geneva was a stay-at-home wife and mother. In the late 1960s, she worked at the Meuth Grocery store in Rosanky, owned by Jim and Ola Webb Meuth; later she was employed at Barbara's Bakery and then in the elementary cafeteria of the Smithville Independent School District. During the years R.V spent traveling for work on the Katy Railroad, Neva was responsible for feeding and managing their growing herd of cattle and lease pastures while ensuring everything at home continued to run smoothly.
Geneva found joy in the beauty of nature, particularly in nurturing her roses and various plants in and around their home. She was happiest in the outdoors tending her flowers. The words of Ecclesiastes remind us of her life's lessons. "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to uproot; a time to tear down, and a time to build. A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance."
With a gentle spirit and steadfast heart, Geneva walked a journey of faith that was deeply meaningful to her and culminated in her baptism on March 24, 1991
Geneva is fondly remembered by her children, Galynn Fogle and her husband Jim, and Fay Scoggins and her husband Paul. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren, Cody Fogle, and Lorrin Badders and her husband Brett, as well as her great- grandchildren: Ashlyn Fogle, Sawyer Badders, Kutter Badders, and Steelee Badders, all of whom affectionally called her "Mawmaw." She is also survived by her sister, Janice Littlefield of Crane, Texas, along with her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, R.V. Meuth; her parents, Max and Anna Behrens; her infant granddaughter, Lindsey Rae Fogle; her brothers, Ervin "Buddy" Behrens, Edgar Behrens, and James Behrens; her sisters, Roberta " Bert" Floro and Eleanor Seidel; and several brother -in-laws and sisters- in-laws.
