On the morning of September 13, 2020 , Emma “Jean” Lee Stagner passed away peacefully of natural causes while in the care of staff from Care Inn Nursing Facility of LaGrange, TX. She was 91 years young.
Jean made her entrance into this world on July 29, 1929 in Dripping Springs, TX. She was welcomed by her parents Charlie Lee and Carrie Harbors Lee and her older brother A.T. Lee.
Jean's mother was a homemaker and her father was a farmer. With her father farming they moved quite a bit and eventually settled in String Prairie, TX. Her brother, A.T. Lee was several years older and went on to join the Army , while Jean completed her 10th grade of school in Smithville, TX.
She then met and married Clarence Flemming Stagner, of Smithville. They eventually made their home in Houston, TX. The two became first time parents in 1948 to a little girl they named Carolyn Jean and a year or so later came their son, Gaylon.
During their time in Houston, Jean was a house wife and a home maker. She eventually went on to get her Cosmetology license and worked outside the home doing hair.
Sometime later after raising the family they retired and moved back to Smithville to live on Stagner Lake. While living here Jean went on to work at MD Anderson, Smithville Division doing custodial work. She also did housework and caretaking for the elderly which she found rewarding.
In September of 1968, because of Carolyn, Jean became a “Memaw” to a granddaughter, Phyllis Randall and again in 1969, to Clay Randall and once again in 1973 to Shawn Randall. These grandchildren fulfilled Jean's life and later went on to extend her legacy with 9 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren, soon to be 4 with another on the way in October of 2020.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Lee, Carrie Harbors Lee, her brother A.T. Lee and her husband Clarence F. Stagner.
Jean is survived by both her children, the grandchildren, the great grandchildren and the great greats!
