ELSIE KRUPPA ZIMMERHANZEL
DEC 27, 1911--FEB 2, 2016

Elsie Kruppa Zimmerhanzel passed away peacefully on February 2, 2016. She was born 104 years ago at Ford's Prairie in south-west Fayette County to Frank John Kruppa and Annie Adamcik. She was the sixth of their eight children. She lived her whole life within 10 miles of her birthplace.

She was united in marriage with Edward Frank Zimmerhanzel on November 4, 1935. They shared 51 years together until his death in 1986. Also preceding her in death were her parents, all her siblings, her son John, and her grandson Edwin Zimmerhanzel, Jr.

Elsie is survived by her son Edwin Frank (Donna), her daughter Mary Ann Kallus (Marcus), and her daughter-in-law Mary Ann Zimmerhanzel. Her grandchildren are: Dana Bunte (Bert), Laura Frerich (Ronnie), Mark Zimmerhanzel (Beth), Melissa Stroud (Steve). Great Grandchildren are: Chrissy Depine (Mark), Candace Clark (Ryan), Ashley Swinney (Michael), Edwin Zimmerhanzel III (Kara), Darren Bunte, Joshua Zimmerhanzel (Nikki), Kelsie Frerich, Kacie Frerich, and Sean Perry (Niki). Great-Great Grandchildren are: Zachary Kirby, Lane Depine, Emily Depine, Averie Zimmerhanzel, Rylee Clark, Easton Zimmerhanzel, Bentley Swinney, Tricia Perry, Nathan Perry, and Trevan Perry.

Elsie was an amazing woman. She was active all her long life. Her last driver's license expired on her 100 birthday! Her memory was unbelievable. She was a devoted Catholic, attending church every Sunday of her life. She loved her family and hosted huge family dinners regularly until she was 90 years old. She made the best chicken noodle soup and her kolaches were fantastic. All her family looked forward to her poppy seed rolls and strudels.

When she decided to move to the Towers shortly before her 99th birthday, she embraced the place wholeheartedly. She loved it there because there was always something going on and she was never bored. It there was nothing else to do, she would be found doing word search puzzles, or playing dominos with the staff.

Elsie celebrated her 104th birthday in December at the home of her son Edwin, who lives on the place where she was born. All her family were there to celebrate her wonderful life!
