Dorothy E. (Adams, Hoskins) York

Dorothy went to be with the Lord on November 7, 2016. She was born January 24, 1925 in Smithville, Texas to Ben and Ludie Adams.

Dorothy was a very loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother as well as a very loyal friend. She was a devoted Christian and a member of Great Hills Baptist Church in Austin. Dorothy started her work career by working in a bakery in Smithville and moving on to a success trucking business in Georgetown. The she became a cosmetologist instructor at Capital Beauty College in Austin, Texas and finally finished her work career retiring in the late 90's from IBM in Austin with over twenty years of service. After her retirement she enjoyed traveling, attending her grandchildren's sporting and social events plus attending seminars that would keep her mind active and challenged. She especially enjoyed her weekly luncheons with her friends from IBM.

Dorothy was preceded in death by: her parents, Ben and Ludie Adams; a son, Elvin Hoskins, Jr.; brothers, Clifton, Bill, Franklin Adams; her sister, Lillie Hemphill and her husbands, Elvin Hoskins, Clyde Kimbro, and Morris York. She is survived by: her son, Fred Hoskins and wife JoAnn; Daughter Lottie Becker; son, James Hoskins; son, Cecil Hoskins; nine grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services 2:00pm Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Marrs-Jones Funeral Home, Smithville, TX with interment following in Oak Hill Cemetery, Smithville.
