Dorothy L. Hurst

Dorthy La Verne Hurst age 78 of Smithville passed away peacefully October 4, 2025.

She was born August 31,1947 to Frank and Mamie Hurst in Wharton Texas.

Dorthy is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, John Henry Hurst, Donald Ray Hurst and Billy Hurst: three sisters; Mary Hudspeth, Clara Hilcher and Betty Jean Hurst.

Dorthy is survived by two sisters Joyce Hurst and Frances Mynar and one brother Arthur Hurst (Kathy). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, including great nieces and nephews.

Dorthy was a child at heart. She loved her stuffed animals, coloring books, sweet cakes and soda. A day didn’t go by that she didn’t have one of these.

She also loved sitting in her swing in the front yard watching the traffic go by and waiting for her little nieces and nephews to come over.

Dorthy will be missed by many. May she rest in peace with all her family in heaven.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00am on Monday, October 13, 2025 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Smithville.
