Cyndy Barton

Cyndy Lou was born in Long Beach, CA. to the late Francis Joseph & Mary Lee Prasek & passed away at age 72 on June 26, 2021. She was a long time resident of Bastrop & had recently made the permanent move to her shore house in Seadrift, Texas with her beloved feline roommates.

Cyndy had an incredible career working with IBM & was very involved with the space programs. On the side, she was key support & co-owner of several restaurants, catering opportunities & a spice company.  In her retirement, she worked with several food banks, a perfect fit given her generous spirit.

Cyndy was a ferocious reader and was very interested in all things history.  She enjoyed traveling and had taken several trips with the Road Scholar organization. She discovered an absolute passion for Alaska and was looking forward to visiting again. Other favorite places to visit included Las Vegas to play, and Northern California to spend time with family.

Cyndy was talented in many arenas. She loved to cook and was famous for her Christmas Cookies – pecan sandies were her specialty. It was a months-long task each year, as she had a long list of family & friends who relied on those happy boxes arriving in the mail.  She was also a master with knitting & crochet needles, and spent many hours making baby blankets to donate to Project Linus – a program that provides homemade gifts to needy, ill , or traumatized children. Cyndy also won multiple ribbons at State Fair of Texas for her needlecrafts.

Cyndy is survived by her daughter Catherine Rones, son Christopher Billings, &  stepdaughter Elizabeth Giles, as well as a bevy of grandchildren & grandpets.

There will be a Celebration of Cyndy’s Life held from 12-5 on July 25th, 2021 @ the home of her good friends Wanda & Stuart Schopp, 603 Pine Canyon Drive, Smithville, TX 78957. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your local food bank.
