Clara Bernice Williams passed away on June 13, 2025 at the age of 98.
Clara was born on March 26, 1927, to Ruby Fleming Stagner and Rozettia Lillian Critendon in Smithville, Texas. Clara was raised on a large farm in Smithville, Texas. She graduated from Smithville High School.
Clara follows six brothers and two sisters to Heaven. They were Lawrence P. Stagner, Bessie Beene, Lee A. Stagner, Floyd Stagner, Woodrow E. Stagner, Clarence Fleming Stagner, Raymond L. Stagner, and Margie Barta.
Clara leaves behind her son Roger A. Dreshel and six nieces and two nephews. They are Linda Cowan, Carolyn Stagner, Marilyn Wilhelm, Susan Zimmerhanzel, Nina Gale Gadd, Denise Bratcher, Gaylon Stagner, and Michael Stagner.
Clara was initially married to George Gilbert Drushel and had her only son, Roger Alan Drushel. The marriage was of short duration. Clara worked as a banker in Houston and eventually married her second husband and love of her life, Walter Bryan Williams. They were married for over Sixty-six years. Bryan passed away at the age of 94. She was a dedicated housewife and a nurturing and sweet mother to one son and two stepsons.
Clara had a great appreciation for music. Whenever visitors arrived, they could hear music playing over the intercom system. Clara really loved the many cats and dogs she had during her lifetime. She had a strong belief in God. Clara treated all relatives, friends, and strangers with respect and dignity. She had impeccable manners always reflected in saying “Thank you” or “You’re welcome.” She led a simple life void of lavish or extravagant material things.
Clara was a gentle, loving, thoughtful, and compassionate person. She will never be forgotten.
