Obituary

Charlene Kadura Briggs, 79, of Rockne, Texas, passed away on September 11, 2026.

Charlene was born in Rockne on August 8, 1947, to Bill and Dora Kadura. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School until its closure and later graduated from Bastrop High School as a proud member of the Class of 1965.

On May 2, 1970, Charlene married the love of her life, Gene Briggs, during his brief furlough from the United States Army. After Gene completed his military service, the couple returned home to Rockne, where they welcomed their daughter, Denise, in 1972.

Charlene worked for the City of Austin for many years before retiring and joining Gene in operating G & C Printing, the family business that continues to bear their initials. Charlene was known for her generosity, her devotion to family, and her habit of remembering every birthday and anniversary with a heartfelt call.

Becoming “Nana” to her grandson Shawn was one of the greatest joys of her life. Her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews remember her warmly for her kindness, her thoughtfulness, and her tradition of ensuring every child at Kadura Christmas found a gift under the tree.

Charlene was preceded in death by her husband, Gene; her parents, Bill and Dora Kadura; her sister, Lyndell Meuth; and her brothers, Sherman and Glenn.

She is survived by her daughter Denise and son-in-law John; her grandson Shawn and his wife Kayleigh; her brother Bill Kadura; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will forever cherish her memory.

Services to celebrate her life will be held Friday, September 18, 2026 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockne, Texas.

Visitation will begin at 10:00am, Rosary will begin at 10:30am and the Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00am with burial following at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
