Carl Ray Schutz

Carl Ray Schutz, 67, of Smithville passed away at his home on June 7, after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Houston, Texas to Benjamin Harrison Schutz and Betty Stall Schutz. He was married to Donna Puckett on July 9, 1976 and together they enjoyed 47 years of marriage.

His family moved to Smithville when he was young, where he remained graduating from Smithville High School in 1975. He went to work off shore doing seismic surveys for oil companies, later in life he went to work doing carpenter work. He loved the ocean, living on the lake and fishing. He enjoyed watching westerns and hanging out in the country with his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife Donna, his daughter, Melisa (Frank), and his son Carl Ray Jr. His grandchildren Sydney Stratton, Jake Dudeck , Nova Dudeck , one great granddaughter. His mother Betty Schutz, his sisters June Fajkus and Sandra Dunbar, his brothers Ben Wayne and Larry Schutz and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Ben Schutz and sister Donna Maugere and niece Kristen Maugere..

Funeral Services will be held at Marrs-Jones Funeral Home Chapel, 110 American Legion Rd., Smithville Texas, Thursday, June 13, 2024. The visitation will be at 11:00 a.m. with the funeral service at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at Oak hill cemetery.
