Bernice Williamson

August 28, 1917 — May 21, 2015

Bernice Fite Williamson, age 97 of Smithville, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2015 after
battling breast cancer the last few years. Bernice was born in Smithville, TX on August 28, 1917
to Olin Cleveland Fite Sr. and Myrtle Slack Fite.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Best Williamson, son Richard Kenneth
Williamson, five siblings, Jewel Ebner, Ruby Parsons, Marguerite Sassman, Louise Jimerson,
and Olin Fite.
She is survived by her two grandchildren, Sandy Williamson Blanchard and husband Jay of
Allen, TX, and Richard Mark Williamson and wife Rayann of Houston, TX; five great
grandchildren, Katie and Kevin Blanchard; Brooke, Blake, and Brynn Williamson.
She married Richard Best Williamson on May 23, 1938. Bernice spent many years in Houston
before returning to her roots in Smithville when her husband retired from the railroad. She
enjoyed playing bridge and poker with her friends and loved dancing.
Bernice was also a lifelong member of the First Christian Church in Smithville.
Services were held Tuesday, May 26 at the Marrs-Jones Funeral Home at 11:00am. Burial was
at Oak Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Larry Parsons, Lin Fite, Wayne Fite, Gary Landry, Bob
Sassman, and Chris Twichell.
