Benjamin Pesl

June 8, 1945 — December 5, 2018

Benjamin Joseph Pesl passed away on December 5, 2018 at the age of 73.  He was born in Smithville, Texas on June 8, 1945 to parents Cyril M, Pesl Sr and Kathryn T. (Svoboda) Pesl. He was raised in Smithville along with 6 siblings.

Benjamin attended public school in Smithville and was voted “Friendliest” and “Wittiest” by his high school peers. He was also an Alter Server for St. Paul Catholic Church in Smithville.  After graduating high school Ben joined the US Navy.  After he was discharged from the Navy, he obtained a job at General Dynamics in Fort Worth, Texas.  Ben eventually moved to Austin where he worked for Otis Elevator and Dover Elevator companies as a technician.

After retiring Benjamin moved to the Lockhart/Litton Springs area.  He enjoyed raising cattle and the country life.  He raised an assortment of different animals such as exotic birds, emus, ostriches, dove, quail, donkeys, goats, buffalos and peacocks just to name a few. Truth be told, he probably had a few “pets” he shouldn’t have had.  Ben did have a special place in his heart for his little white dog, Sweet Pea.  He loved to listen to Country music and could be heard singing “White Lightning” from time to time.  Benjamin will be remembered as a  fun-loving guy.  He worked hard, played hard and always stayed busy.  If Benjamin was here, he would say “Cut this thing short, I have things to do!”

He was preceded in death by is Parents, Cyril M. Sr. and Kathryn T. Pesl along with Brother-in-Laws, August “Gus” Srubar and Ernest “Shanghai” Karisch.

Ben is survived by his siblings, Alois J. Pesl (Minnie), Cyril M. Pesl, Jr. (Shirley), Danny Pesl (Kathy), Mary Ann Srubar, Katherine T. Karisch and Lillian M. Spurgeon (Carl).
