Anne Haley Bryant

Oct 16, 1951 — May 13, 2026

Smithville

Anne Haley Bryant went to be with Jesus and her husband Ernie on the morning of Wednesday May 13, 2026, at 11:32 a.m. She took her last breath at her home in Smithville, TX with her son right by her side. She had been battling a neurological disorder when our father in Heaven decided it was time for her to be welcomed into her eternal home of glory with him.

She is preceded in death by her father Thomas Preston Haley, her mother Yvonne Wallace Haley and her husband Ernest (Ernie) Bryant. Her love lives on through her Brother Preston Haley, her most loyal best friend Joni Scoggins Warner and her husband John Warner, her Son Randall Bryant his girlfriend Julia Breland, her three grandchildren Tyler Bryant, Trevor Bryant and Taylor Bryant and their mother Misty Bryant. Her heart also lives on in the lives of her many cousins and friends that she called family.

Anne’s love and loyalty was pure. She loved hard and was willing to let you know it. She was a respectable, well mannered, highly moral woman. Her respect for others, and her love for God showed through her daily life. “SHE was in a class of her own.”

Anne was born in Hallettsville, TX October 16, 1951. She was baptized in church, and she was always involved in church organizations, G.A.s and girl scouts growing up. She graduated from Smithville High in 1970, but she would meet her best friend of over 60 years at a home brew party before then. Joni can tell you of their journey through life together. They loved to travel and loved to be in the company of friends. Without each other they both would have been lost. Their bond was stronger than blood. Anne was married to the one and only love of her life Ernest Bryant until his passing in 2001. Everyone told of the legend of their love. They never had an unkind word to say to each other and were inseparable. Many say “their love was like nothing you have ever seen or heard of”. There is no doubt that they are holding each other tight once again. Anne loved photography and always had her camera nearby. She also had an immense love for animals from rescuing dogs to raising alligators in her back yard. She would always find the injured and bring them home to the $5.00 clinic to be nursed back to health.

Her greatest joy is her son Randall Bryant who came into her life at the age of 7 and became hers officially at his age of 13. She taught him to love God, to respect everyone, to be humble, to build lifelong friendships and to work hard for everything in life. She was known as a tough mom who without a shadow of doubt raised a great man that she was very proud of.

She was dedicated to all the students that she drove on her school buses over the years. She would wake up at 4:00a.m. every day to make sure that she got them to school safe and

on time. After retiring from the school system, she went on to drive for the Texas Department of Corrections.

She loved playing board games with her family and friends. Games from Wahoo, Dominos, and Uno were just some of the games that she loved to play. You would never see a bigger smile or hear a louder laugh than when she would get caught cheating and then admit to it.

She will be missed by many, but her love will live on in the hearts of everyone she knew.

Visitation will be held at the First Baptist Church of Smithville, 300 Hudgins St. Smithville TX 78957 on Saturday May 23, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. with the service to follow at 11:00a.m. After the service there will be a fellowship for all who loved her at the church as well.
