Alfred "Fred" Hellinger, Jr.

Alfred "Fred" Joseph Hellinger, Jr. passed away May 19, 2026 at the age of 66.

Fred passed away in the home he grew up in on May 19, 2026. His passion and love for working on the farm begin when he learned to walk.

Known as Fred, he was a devoted and hard headed Bohemian that helped everyone. A heart that was so big & filled with kindness never bragging, boasting, or putting on a show. He just did what was needed to ensure everyone was taken care of.

He was a Farmer, Mechanic, Caretaker of the Kovar Catholic Church and Cemeteries as well as President of SPJST Lodge #38. Most would agree he was President of Kovar. To say he was dedicated is an understatement.

Fred was many things to many people and his kindness impacted everyone he met.

For the younger generation, we all hope you will follow in his footsteps.

Fred was born on September 14, 1959 to Alfred & Evelyn Hellinger at Orgain Memorial in Bastrop, TX. He was preceded in death by his Father & Mother, He is survived by his Brother, Uncles, Aunts, numerous Cousins & countless Friends.

A visitation and rosary will be held Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at Marrs Jones Funeral Home in Smithville. The visitation will begin at 6:00pm and the Vigil and Rosary will begin at 7:00pm.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at Marrs Jones Funeral Home in Smithville. The visitation will begin at 9:00am and the service will begin at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Barton Creek Cemetery in Kovar. The family invites you to join them in food and fellowship at Kovar Hall. 

In lieu of flowers the Family asks that memorials and donations be made to St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church Kovar or the Charity of one’s choice.
