Dorwin Glenn Wallace "Blackie"

December 3, 1927 — November 29, 2022

Dorwin G. Wallace, aka, Blackie, Boppy, Daddy, Sugar Boy and Glenn was born December 3, 1927 and passed November 29, 2022 at his home in Smithville Texas.

One of a kind!

He was a good husband of 75 years to his wife, a proud World War II veteran and he lived a life worth living. The stories he would tell of being on a Navy vessel in the Pacific, of their many travels, and of course the hunting and fishing that he did. He never stopped going and he survived polio, diabetes, and most recently a bad gallbladder. In fact, he died picking up pecans in his front yard just as he would do anytime there were pecans on the ground. You couldn’t tell him not to do something as he was going to do it anyway. Not many get to live to see great, great grandchildren. When we gathered for Thanksgiving this year there were 5 generations at his house. We are blessed to have so many memories to cherish.

Blackie was born in Austin Texas and was preceded in death by mother and father, Kellogg and Eva Inez Wallace; a brother Chester Wallace, sisters Cleo Bell and Gladys Lewis and son Dwayne Wallace.

He is survived by his wife of 75 years LaVerne, daughter Lynda Dyess, grand daughters Gay Lyn and husband David Gaskill, Kara Painter and Brandi Painter; great grand children Brandon Gaskill and wife Mellissa, Stephanie Gaskill and spouse David Risinger, Lora Gaskill and grandson Tyler Painter. He also has 7 great great grandchildren and numerous cousins , nephews and nieces.

“For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39
